Does anyone know if theres any software out there which can help me to download, for example, 25% of the avi file in the torrent first and then rest.

That is, there is only one avi file within the torrent but I want to download the first 20 minutes or so first so I can start watching that part. Is this possible?

Torrents download in peices. So theres no real way to say which peices to specifically get unless your downloading the files in rars or some other split format. You can use an avi previewer to watch peices you have but it wont be saved if any specific order unless using the rars method.

There's no way of knowing which piece the torrent client will download, it's random.

If you use utorrent you can go to options ->preferences ->advanced and in bt.prio_first_last_piece select "true". It will start prioritizing the begining and end of each file your downloading.

Which are the parts that a player like vlc needs to create a preview. It wont solve your problem but it might help.

If your downloading rars you can tell you client to make "High Priority" or "Do Not download" on specific rars in the pack. Simply select to download the first couple of rars... then select "Do not Download" on the rest of the rars and you should be fine.
P.S. This will only work on rars or files that are split into multiple individual pieces.
