    Can someone give me the secret to understanding the file names on posts? In alt.binaries.sony.psp the names do not describe the file. example psn-v8sa.r001

    How do I decipher psn-v8sa? Any cross reference table?

    Usually the file name contains the group name, game name and file #.
    Group names is something you learn over time, game names is usually first letter of each word in the game name.

    Easiest thing to do is to search for the file name on google with quotes like:
    "psn-v8sa". You'll usually find posts on torrent sites or whatever with the full name.
    You can also use binsearch as you will (in most cases) get the post name, and the post name usually is a description of what it is:
