Dont think the criteria to get invite access encourages spam and even if so not much. It was originally set that you had to have more posts. That did create somespam so the needed post count was lowered to five posts. If your noticed spamming the five posts your account could be disabled or banned from the site. With such a low count of posts needed it should be easy to make those posts and not have to spam them. If you cant find anything on the site to post about then maybe you shouldnt be a member of the site.

As for the limit that allows n00bs to get familiar with the site and the members. It also keeps out n00bs that just want to join and grab and go. This is a community after all. Most regulars dont want to give or trade invites to those they know from nothing. If thats all you want and arent intersted in the community and what we do then there are other sites you can check out also...

I am new to this site as well and although I do think it odd that 5 posts and waiting 1 month kinda sucks I think it is the only way to weed out dipshits. Nobody wants to earn anything anymore...especially trust!!! That dude should have kept his whinging to a minimum and his learning to a maximum...........

Well, 5 posts ain't that bad. And waiting 30 days (or is it 31?)... Time flies and in no time a month would have passed.

On a few trackers I already have a ratio of more than 2... and having to wait 30/31 days there to become a power user... NOW THAT IS TOUGH

It doesn't seem like that big of a deal to have to wait to GIVE out invites as well as to beg for them. If those private sites you're a part of don't have some kind of way of punishing you for inviting in a hasty fashion, they should (...IF those people you barely knew don't follow the rules.)

I'm getting an invite to one, finally... and if I were to join this forum with the intent to find people to invite, I would want to spend at least a month getting to know the people I'm going to entrust the health of my beloved network to.

Seems like a sensible point of view, whatever it was in response to.

And don't worry, I still do the same thing occasionally, but in my case it's probably senility creeping in.
