Tmpeg Question

ok this is a weird one I have dl a 715 meg AVI I go to encode it with TMPEGnc it says that its is 164 mins long when its really 55 minutes and the estimated file size enocded to mpeg-1 will be 1.4 gig!! so how the hell do u fit this 715meg onto 1 cdr????

I know I can easily split it but why say that 715meg is CD1 when its impossible to fit??

Try first to rip off the sound using Virtual Dub and use it as "audio source" in TMPGEnc.

Open up movie in Virtual Dub-->Audio-->Full Process Mode-->Save as wav

You have to do another method if the audio is AC3.

You could split the original avi with Avi Splitter then try to encode each split part separately.
You may have to split it into 3 or 4 smaller avi's.

Edit: HERE is the site for avi splitter(trial), think andr.net has the patch.

Are you sure it's really an avi? What codec does GSpot say it uses? It may be a misnamed .wmv file - sometimes they display an incorrect video length.

Also, the size of the file doesn't matter. If you're positive it is only 55 minutes long, you could try simply dropping the .avi file into Nero. It will attempt to convert it to a VCD mpeg for you (doesn't always work, though). Before burning make sure you right-click on the file name in the compilation window and select 'Properties'. Then choose a scaling method (whether you want it letterboxed, clipped, or stretched).

yes its an avi i draged it across with nero and it would have enoceded bu i don tlike enoding with nero anyway the problem was solved by exracting the data

just a small tip you can fit about 800mb (vcd) on a 700mb disc .It has some thing to do with the disc index being smaller on a vcd.

I keep saying this but no one seems to believe me...

You can fit about 80 MINUTES of video on a standard 700MB CD-R. The actual size of the file DOES NOT MATTER! What accat13 says about 800MB may be true, but that's because if you create an mpeg with all the standard VCD settings from an 80 minute movie, the file size will just happen to be about 800MB.

But if the file you wish to burn is a 2 Gigabyte .avi, as long as it's under 80 minutes long, you can still drop it into Nero and it'll convert it to VCD and burn it onto one disc.
