I'm having the same problem because I'm using sftp. Its slower because the server has to encrypt the information before it sends it. Regular ftp should be faster and max out your connection. By default leeware servers come with sftp installed (not ftp). I'm trying to find out how to install ftp on leeware but its hard for someone who knows very little about linux

ok i found out whats causing slow speed while downloading via ftp... its default number of transfer per site, by default its set for 4 connection and some how they are set for 10kb download speed if you change the number of connection the speed will max out.
i set to 10, its only useful if your downloading multiple rar file.

For some reason my upload speed is really slow while I am leeching the file but once it has completed and I am seeding it picks up speed. Does anyone know how to fix this?

it turned out that wont work all the time but there is another way..
you log into your webmin and goto other\upload and download,
at the end of the page its says "download from server to pc", you browse to folder where the downloaded file are saved and download them.

    open up vnc viewer
    type wine utorrent.exe

or if you shutdown then open putty login and start with number 13 from buggyme's instructions
