I've been using Bit-Defender Plus V 10 and it is BY FAR the BEST anti-virus I have EVER USED! Give it a try... never had any problems since I installed that.

It doesn't make the PC slow as other anti-viruses and has a very secure protection.

I think Anti-virus is over rated it's more than putting a virus scanner on your system but anyway I use SAVCE no problems but I'm not relying on it to protect me from all the bad guys... Layered security is the way to go!

I'm looking for something that don't take up a lot of resources.
At the moment I'm using avg7, the free version. But not sure if its doing as good as job as many others out there.
The best antivirus - Avira Antivir

It is free, light and has the higher detection rates.

    That's not smart.
You seem to think you can only get virus if you execute something untrusted yourself. There are many ways your computer get infected unknowingly. You should google the info of the infection techniques.

I would say AVG as well, I've been using the PRO version for 2 years now and have been extremely happy with it
