I'v never seen that before but guessing driver problem ? So reinstall sound drivers ?

A quick Google gives you this :

    Description:
rthdcpl.exe is a process belonging to the Realtek HD Audio Control Panel and is bundled alongside Realtek sound cards and audio hardware. This program is a non-essential process, but should not be terminated unless suspected to be causing problems.

Is it in start up , you know when you check start programs ? If sound is set how you want it , disable that entry see if it stops . You should still reinstall sound drivers but not sure to be honest , other peoples problems are alot more fun than my own .

you have updated microsft lately, thats why its happenin

No driver error, its on windows part....loads of people have had the problem since updating...
    here is what microsoft says:
    Overview

Install this update to resolve an issue where the Realtek HD Audio Control Panel may not start after you install security update KB925902 (MS07-017) and security update KB928843 (MS07-008). After you install this item, you may have to restart your computer.

here is a link for a microsoft fix.

Check the above posters. If no such luck then...

Try searching your HD for a backup of that file. Restore the backup using Replacer or disable Windows File Protection, then replace.

This happened to me awhile ago for another app: https://filesharingtalk.com/vb3/softw...gal-dll-156433 - Luckily I had a backup of that file, restored it, no problem.

I have encountered a computer that had the same problem. The fix posted above by kammi solved it.
