I just got a brand new computer today, and I'm installing my apps.
When I go to run ares, within 20 seconds I get disconnected from my IM client, and also I get the "Page Cannot Be Displayed" in my web browser.

Ares however continues to be connected and I can download things.

When I exit ares then my internet comes back to life. Has anyone else had this issue or know what can cause it?

I have Zone Alarm Pro running along with Symantec Antivirus as well

update, when i downgrade to version 2.0.7.3, it no longer happens.. interesting

UPDATE #2: If you are having this problem too, try upgrading your router's firmware!
