Doesn't TMPG plus have a pan and scan setting? The older free versions were a bitch to make it NOT do a full screen re encode. There are settings to resize the video anyway, in TMPG and windows media encoder and probably a bunch more. Normally you'd set it to "No resize" but if full screen is what you want, you shouldn't need to set any thing. You're gonna get a wierd result though, people real tall and skinny, like old spaghetti westerns.

just use tempgnce or virtual dub, or change the screen setting on your tv/media player

A laymans approach. Look for "aspect ratio" in your player or other software option menu and you will get a variety of choices.

Best would be "original aspect", others for widescreen are "16:9" for older movies and "2.25:1" for letter box format.

If it is a player problem try ZoomPlayer - its the most flexible (my own prejudice&#33

If ur usin tmpeg there r two ways..tri the full screen choice in the
aspect ratio option, but some times accordin to the source aspect ratio
it wont do it ..if so choose no margin keep aspec/r instead then double click clip frame and cut the black bars off.
