Can anyone please tell me how to repair file assoctions such as exe? I tried download a fix for it in .reg format but reg edit doesnt work. It asks me for what prog to open it with. Same problem with command.com.

exe's dont really have an assotiation like other filetypes. If you cant open exe's you probably have an antiexe virus. If its for a different filetype, hold shift, and right click the file, and select Open with, you can select the default app for that file type then.

Open 'My Computer'>Click Tools at top of screen>Select Folder Options>File types.
Thanks the normal file associations are ok. The only problem is that i cant open .exe, .reg ,.bat, .inf , .com files. Is there a way to repair them?

If this has only happened recently, you can try a system restore as a hopeful fix.
