    Unsure

Just wondering if your xbox is not modded, can you play backup games from a DVD disc on your xbox?

I heard you can do this, depending on which xbox hard drive you have.

you need a mod chip in order to play burned disks. This is standard for all video game consoles (that involves reading from a disk)

not true. do your homeworks. Xbox was not a standard console.

You don't need a mod-chip in order to play backups. Softmods can do the job. However, you should verify wich DVD drive you have. You may have problems to play a backup on a Xbox using the cheap Thomspon drive. Reads bad quite every blank cd/dvd brands, worst if old. If so, you can easily change the old drive with a PC based LG GDR-8163B or GDR-8164B(using the special adapter). Also, you could change your HDD for a bigger one and then put your games as .iso in your HDD.

    good luck.
