Sony has confirmed it is to launch an 80GB PlayStation 3 console, with the upgraded system to debut in South Korea on June 16.
Plans for the high-end PlayStation 3 were announced on the Sony Computer Entertainment Korea website, where it is also revealed the system will go on sale for 518,000 won (£282).
Industry insiders believe the console will be released across Europe in the months ahead, with Next-Gen stating that "the 80GB model is likely to be released in other regions in the not too distant future".
Online rumours also suggest that the release of an 80GB PlayStation 3 will help push down the price of the current 60GB model.
Sony's UK office refused to comment on a possible UK launch for the new system.
