8800 GTS vs. 2900 XT

if one wanted to play games such as crysis, stalker and c&c, which would be the best choice?

I highly recommend the 8800GTS, it owns the 2900 in benches with heavy AA. Right now I can run all my games with full effects and 16X AA/AF with little to no lag. Depends on the game though, with CSS I get easily over 100FPS on most maps, same with DODS. For COD2 and Spiderman 3 it averages around 60 or so.

If you're wanting to use it on your current system then they are both overkill.

8800gts all the way. ati's just lagging behind with dx10. but of course, the better card is more expensive. so if you want to play your games at max settings, go with the gts. if not, i would go with one of the other 8800 cards if you don't want to shell out a load of money.

The prices for the 2900s are not worth it since you can get the 8800gts for a lower price and get the same or better performance.

and should you get an 8800gts then you should get eVGA since they have a lifetime warranty and covers overclocking. Just remember to register your card within 30 days of purchasing it.
