    Surprised/Amazed

hi guys i just experienced the weirdest windows problem...
i`m running a xp pro and i just bought 4 gigs of ddr 2 (dual channel kit) and guess what... windows only detects 3400 not 4096!!!
i was shocked and as far as i know there is nothing that can be done to change this ...
so guys do not use ,more than 2 gigs on win ...
anyone else had the same problems???

32 bit OS's can recognize at max 4GB of RAM. By default, windows will allocate 2GB for kernel and 2 for OS processes. The rest that you see is virtual memory. To "fix" this, open your boot.ini file and add "/3GB" at the end w/o the quotes. This will force windows to use 3GB for OS and 1 for Kernel.

to edit the boot.ini file, goto run and type msconfig. There is a tab that says boot.ini. click it and then click edit. after you type /3gb at the end, save and close. DON"S SCREW WITH ANYTHING ELSE! It can give you a major headache.

Also, no x64 os will have this problem, that includes xp x64.
