The Lead Man
It's a toss up for me between Paper Trail by Barbara Snow Gilbert, Demonata: Lord Loss by Darren Shan, or The Heart-Shaped Box by Joe Hill(Son of Stephen King)

Say what?
BT Rep: +5
Had read "The clash of civilizations and creation of new world order" by Sam P Huntington some time back
Was suggested by a friend to read a book which was rather practical and logical in its approach - "Guns Germs And Steel" by Jared Diamond
It was definitely interesting, and is certainly recommended to those who have read the one mentioned at the top.

Ira Levin - This Perfect Day
As I was reading it I was thinking it was an amazing sci-fi book with some strong real-world parallels. But as I reflected on it afterwards, I started to realize that this was more than an sci-fi book and more than exaggerated speculation on the future of government. It was a genius insight into humanity, the world and everyday relationships. Levin wrote what seemed to be a revised 1984, but the subject matter goes well beyond mind control and manipulation. It covers government (most obviously), corporations, peoples and individuals. Its metaphors are versatile yet specific and I am still discovering new ones.
This book never made it big, but I would rank it as the best book I've ever read and one of the most underrated books of all time.

The absolute best books!!:
Anne Rice - The Vampire Lestat, Queen of the Damned.
Stephen King - The Dark Tower series and The Green Mile, Signal. (All of his novels are good too!)
