how come when i am leeching or seeding a file, my ip address shows up on the bt client of the peer i am connected to?
i went into utorrent and typed in something for it to report as my ip address, but what i typed in doesnt show up on the peers bt client....
what can i do to stop my ip from showing up?

Uhm your Ip will always show up i think, you should seed with a dedicated server if you dont want your own IP to show up. Or maybe the use of a proxy could help to (i think, not sure)

because IP is internet protocol, you can't make the IP not be there, because that way the other person's utorrent wouldn't know where to connect to, it's just the way it has to be, anonymous proxies are alternatives but the speeds suck...

i c...thanx....I think i do use a dedicated server...meaning a seedbox?
hmm but other peoples IP dont show....
for example, I always see things like:
vpsXXX.leeware.com
or
XXXX.leaseweb.com
is there a way I can get my IP address to show up like that?

Others people's IPs are also shown. In the µtorrent peerlist, right click on any IP and unselect 'Resolve IPs'.
