I didn't hear the movie fat cats complaining about job losses when their affiliated megaplexes opened up and forced the closure of the independants and smaller cinema chains

True but wouldnt a multipimplex employ more folks than a flea pit!

Not really, the old ones weren't all fleapits, they had an..erm...atmosphere

The multiplexes just mean that their friends at McDonalds etc have somewhere to push their cardboard non-food to a captive audience. So the amount of people that work in the cinema isn't equal to the people who work FOR the cinema.

Does a 12-screen cinema need more staff than 4 3-screen cinemas? If anything, it needs less.

Perhaps large companys such as UGC, Warner Cinemas, IMAX, etc, are aware of this, and try to restrict their employment of people so as to increase their profits to the most possible.
Maybe, im not sure tho....
