    Right?

No. Because these things were happening before the invasion of Iraq or Afghanistan.

What conventional wisdom would that be?

it’s an election with no Democrats, in one of the whitest states in the union, where rich candidates pay $35 for your votes. Or, as Republicans call it, their vision for the future.

I assume that the conventionial wisdom to which you refer is the BBC. It has all the hallmarks of an IRA bomb- minus the open doors, the flashing indicator lights and the explosion. This was a marked warning and clearly set to be disposed.

    Hmmm.

Then the USA (and the U.K. by proxy) is not the epicenter of true evil in the world?

Do you mean to say that radical Islam is somewhat (for lack of a better term) erratic in it's presenting behavior, and moral equivalence has no place in the argument?

The devices were not so much foiled as discovered just sitting there

    This means that either

    1) They were a suggestion to Gordon to re-consider strongly further involvement in the ME without actually resorting to killing anyone.

    2) The bombers had a change of heart and abandoned the vehicles.

    3) The bombs were not ME terrorism but some London gangland thing (less likely there being two though)

How can anyone make meaningful comment on these events. There simply isn't enough information to go on. As such one is tempted to suspect that the thread is a hair disingenuous.

With regard the opening post, that is the most baffling thing of all. Where is there any evidence of this being linked to British troops being deployed in Iraq.

Gordon Brown will remove our troops from the middle east. However he will not do it as a one-off withdrawal, he will gradually reduce the numbers. Whilst he does this the troops who are still there will receive all the support he can provide them.

Bottom line American chums, our soldiers will be coming home. The number deployed in that region will decrease. Our exit strategy will start very soon.

That, as they say, is all.

It would help if we actually employed intelligence and terrorist experts to work on this situation.

    One terrorist expert on British Television said yesterday. I quote;

" Successful suicide bombers do not move up the hierarchy of terrorist networks"

No, they become marters..which is probably the best they ever could do; considering such factors as their place of origin, ( often a refugee camp) and their education, ( probably none, making them very susceptible to extreme"Islamic" propaganda)

The people who commit these atrocities in Britain come from decent families. They have\had a good education. Sadly they fell for the extremes and falsehoods of religious fanatics.
