I can't believe that no one in this whole thread has told this stupidguy that maybe he should modify his behavior in order to not get banned. That way it would not be a problem to fix.
it's possible to get an accidental ban though
tclite got an accidental ban from mirc for pasting in half of our msn convo accidently...twice

although i don't see how you could accidently get banned from more than one

Well he was talking about being banned from a forum and a chatroom.

A mistake at both at the same time? I don't think so.

I am not sure how long you keep the same IP with NTL, I was under the impression that it was 24 hours, then it changed.

If that is not the case then I am sure they will change it for you, or tell you how long the current "lease" lasts.

There may be a way to check this yourself, however I am not that knwolwdgable about this side. As Robbie 2 says you could always use a proxy. Either an NTL one or one of the many who supply a free service.

JP is correct - I've done it before just phone your provider and ask them to change the ip Telewest will do it and the call is local rate - don't know about ntl.

What NTL service are you using. I am certain that NTL Broadband policy, in the UK, is not to provide static IP's. Unless of course it is for a business where you may need one.

Are you on one of NTL's domestic Broadband services.

if you unplug your modem from all wires, leave it off for AT LEAST 5 hours and then reconnect - you MAY get a new IP - i'm on NTL but can't remember what the lease times are - but unless someone else takes your IP you'll just get the same one again when you reconnect the modem to NTL's network, this is due to the way that DHCP works

As other people have said - if you don't get yourself banned you won't have to change your IP
