When bittorrent is checking the existing file why does it take so long?? Mine seems to take 7-8 minutes checking a file over 1gb how long does it take you guys?

Bugga I should have put this under software I know, sorry please dont moan at me about it I know Ive gone wrong but if any of you guys can help that will be great

That sounds pretty normal, 1 gig is quite a bit

1/2 Man, 1/2 Amazing
mine is about half that time, but i have a 8mb cache, a 7200 rpm IMB GXP drive, with tag and seek enabled, so it helps.

i think its your connection speed not your 8mb cache, a 7200 rpm IMB GXP drive thingy

No, its the speed of your pc that determines the speed of this. It doesn't even have to be online to check the exisiting file (though obviously your advised to be) A faster processor, memory and hard disc will make all the difference. I check a 1.5Gb file in about 30 seconds.
