Grand theft auto 3 is so slow on

Pentium2 400mhz
192mb ram
16mb ati rage 128

its like lag ville on a single player game what can i do to make it faster (that does not involve buying anything) maybe overclocking something?

your specs arent the min system req.
either upgrade comp or try it on ps2

Ya well it runs so

I tried overclocking though i don't know how I'm using an abit BH6 with cpu soft II
i did it to 450 (100) and then when i restarted it says cpu is unowrkable or has been changed so i continued and here i am right now...

have you tried turning off "trails" in the options menu?

this boosted mine noticably

also try a mod called sheeps high fps.
