I was merely pointing out that this may not, in fact be the way to go. I wanted to inform people that they should consider their actions, when using programs such as this one.

the army ips etc aren't on meth's list just to set the record straight on that- also the fake file ips have come in handy for me on the porn end of things lol coz a lot of those smaller companies spread fake files on a smaller level as opposed to overpeer spreading massive amounts of bogus music files which work as well in pg... your best bet if you don't want to mess around with editing is go with meth's recommended list and as of today it's the following (just to illustrate that the goofier ranges aren't in there- this list changes so go to the site for an updated one if you see this later...i've alphabetized it for simplicity's sake

I was trying to update that list for you last night, but for some reason it wouldn&#39;t let me post anything....

Just copy and paste the list to Excel and filter all but unique selections. Then your left with 366258788 IP&#39;s over 656 ranges.

Its hard to believe, but you had doubles, triples, and even quadruples of the same IP addresses in there.

So is somebody taking that massive list and cutting the "fat" out of it? I honestly don&#39;t think blocking single ips (AVI faker?), the French Department of Defense, the US Customs Agency, etc. is really necessary.

There&#39;s also the problem of extra blank lines between entries -- this prevents Peer Guardian from reading ALL the entries after the blank lines&#33;

Sorry, these type of bigger is better lists are only the ultimate in ridiculous. I update mine at the PG2 IP Database HERE, and click on "PLAIN TEXT VERSION", it is updated regularly. I have even submitted bad ranges which were removed within 2 days on average. Current list is 344 Ranges with 69376158 Addresses. I have seen many bad IP ranges submitted blocking applications and websites, even the k-lite board at one point a couple weeks ago. I also suggest updating once a week, as they seem to be the most reliable and accurate source.

Okay, does anyone else see this many problems with that list?

• Repeated IPs ("cause you just plain know that the same IP can attack often and let half the attacks in&#33;" )
• Invalid IPs (e.g. the negative IPs) - They&#39;ll in theory block every other IP apart from those in that range&#33;
• Likely to be outdated now - Dynamic IPs, new creeps, etc
• Those same people who sent those IPs - Have they actually done a WHOIS for each of those IPs? Most likely, they&#39;ve ripped it off another site or got trigger-happy
• If I didn&#39;t know any better, I&#39;d have said that that &#39;original list&#39; in the first post was the full unfiltered list available at the Full Update at the time of the original post, with a few member-submitted IPs for authenticity

Fact is - This is not a definite list. If you want one, just put in "ALL IPs - 0.0.0.0-255.255.255.255" because that&#39;s in reality the only one you can get away with updating only once.

Meth doesn&#39;t have the IP database for credits - Update it using the Full Update often, because that&#39;s in effect the best way for PG users to defend themselves often.

And if meth doesn&#39;t have those IPs yet they are legit, then why the are you holding them? Submit them into the IP database - But I can see about 95% of them being taken down within 48 hours anyway. I guess I just answered my own question then
