700Mhz not bad for the job, but not best for it ether
id get more ram and a biggger hdd. Windows 2000 would be best on that as 98 has blue screasn comming out of its ears. (I got 98 and id never recomend it)

that aint bad, what graphic card you running? Ive got a friend running XP on 600mhz 128mb ram 20gb hard drive and he has no problem. Just make sure you dont have XP running with all the really cool theme settings that use up loads of ram. Try to get another load of RAM, 64mb or 128mb. I would recommend going back down to windows 98se, windows 2000 sucks big time and 98se second best microsoft operating system apart from XP that microsoft have. Hope some of that helps.

I actually bought 256mb ram the other day but it isn't compatible with my computer because my motherboard uses 100mhz sdram and this 133mhz

it was my understanding that pc133 was backwards compatible with pc100 boards. it will only run at 100MHz, but should be compatible.

also, you can decrease visual effects in xp by right clicking on "my computer", selcting properties, advanced tab then click on settings under the perfomance header.
then click on "adjust for best performance" and windows should run a little faster

There is no problem running 133 ram at 100. Also there are plenty of tweaks you can do to speed up XP. Search Google and you will find plenty of guides.
