    hi i just purchased a DVP3140, and im having trouble playing divx and xvid files, its saying bad disc ??


    wat do i need to do to be able to play them??

    Not all divx players play all divx versions...and it could just be your dvd types. If your player only supports DVD+R and you used DVD-R, that would explain it as well.

    have you Hacked it yet? it might help !
    try this-
    1. Make sure that tray is empty and no DVD is in
    2. Turn the unit off and the on again
    3. Open the tray
    4. On the remote, hit 9879 and the
    Region Code number you want it set too or. [For any-region support hit 0].
    5. Very important - you hit OK on the remote after.

    also try going into systems menu make sure its set to NTSC or MULTI.

    if none of them work its the discs your using i find Verbatim to be a good make.

    It was most probably the hack that did the job, i had the same problem with my Philips DVP630 untill i hacked it! but thats a different hack code to the DVP3140.
    most DVD hacks are listed here for future reference.
    and DVD hacking is not illegal yet and its not mentioned in the forum rules so don't ban me please.
