I've poked around on it a bit just to see what it was all about.

I don't think there is as much quality content as Usenet though, or even close.

Maybe a wrong thread, but let me tell my story)...

I heard newsgroups have the same quality and content as torrent trackers, that`s why I decided to use it for a month just to check it out. I purchased unlimited newsgroup access from NewsDemon.com (using FST reference link). After that I installed Grab It, configured it and logged in to my account.

...It took me more than an hour to update groups that I found.

...I used Search function to find some stuff, but this function is limited to 2 tries, after that you need to subscribe for "Grab It search".

...I tried to find "Everybody Loves Raymond" seasons, however found just one out of nine.

Maybe I did something wrong, but I found newsgroups a bit ambiguous...

I also used the link above and found my ISP in the list.

    Optimum Online
    news.optonline.net
Allows 2 connections, 500kbps per connection cap.

What can you download with this configuration? Not too much I think...

Up to 30 Mbps/5 Mbps - $179.95 ... how can it be cheaper than cable?

Optimum Online Cable Boost 30Mbps/5Mbps costs $65

I don't think newsgroup are "better" than BT private site.. sct/ftn pre times cannot be beaten by newsgroup.. I download all my 0days stuffs from only few trackers at speed like 2MB/s which is the maximum for me atm. I wud say that newsgroup is good for archives or non scene stuffs but private trackers still better imo and it's free..
If you're willing to pay a monthly cost for your downloads, you shud rent a leech slot on a fast ftp site.. that the only thing "better" than bittorrent imo.

The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.

It's true that it's not as easy to locate content as much as newsgroups. (binsearch or newzleech) However, there are many forums where rapidshare links are present. Probably just as many as there are private torrent sites if not more! There are really 'big' boards that have almost everything and there are smaller boards that specialize in a certain genre (music or porn for instance). Pretty similar to bittorrent now that I think of it.

Pretty much the same when you take into consideration the PARs that were created as well.

you know what u need, you need to get a rapidshare premium account for like 5 US dollars and then join forumw.org or warez-bb.org. They have all the stuff you will need and not worry about seeding back either. Also its great speeds that max out your connection.

bit torrent is the best quality things in my opinion. rapidshare has lots of good stuff but is also littered with junk. O slick99, warez-bb.org is how i found out about this forum, its an excellent forum and I have 2500 posts there
