    Hello everyone.

Well, I dont have no issues with my computer right now but i want to know if i need to upgrade anything on my computer.

Please consider that this computer is only used for general internet browsing, downloading mass amounts of data and some online games occasionally (counter strike etc)

    Here are some specs

    350W PSU
    2 GB RAM
    Asrock P4i65G Socket 478 Motherboard
    Intel Celeron 2.66Ghz
    SAPPHIRE ATI Radeon X1550 AGP
Everything else is pretty much standard i think.

Edit: Forgot to add the shameful part
A whole 80GB hard drive Whats a decent size for a frequent downloader? I could download 40 gig+ a day easily if i wanted, So 80 gig just dont cut it. The other day i had to put alot of my files on DVD's to store because i had 4% space left free

    Hello.

    Your post is nonsensical.
If you "have no issues" then there is no "need" to do anything at all.

    But wait...there is an issue!
The hard drive is too small!
If you only had 4% free space Windows has been busy cannibalizing itself and must have run like dogpoop.

HDDs are cheap as dirt these days...add a second drive as data storage.

BTW, if you really could DL 40GB a day your ISP would be screaming bloody murder...

Good point, Uhm, Not sure how to explain it. I kind of mean like:

Does it all work together well?
Could i upgrade it any more for slight performance without going over the top? After all, I dont need one of those beasts i seen in the "post your computer pics" thread. Although it would be nice
Is anything there meaning another part cannot run with its full effect(??) ?

Yes, It ran like crap. I didnt even notice until someone on this site pointed out www.pcpitstop.com and it said to delete unwanted files. Then i checked and seen that was the main reason. There was around 4 gig of temp files alone

40 gig may seem high, But not impossible.

On TL i can reach 2.2MB download speed with an average DVD size of 4403 MB ? give or take a little depending on movie.

If that line maxed constantly at 2.2MB. It would take around 35 minutes or something, But because no torrent gives max speed 100% of the time, Lets make it average of an hour.

That makes 10 hrs of downloading to do 43gig +

I think my maths are right there anyway And haven't had no "screams of bloody murder"......yet

All that aside, Any suggestions on hard drives? What do i really need to look for in the specs?

Computer stuff complicates me, So any extra info about what to look for other than disk size would be great

    Hello again.

You'll want to get a SATA drive (IDE is going the way of the dinosaur) so it can be moved forward when you get a new PC.

Your motherboard only supports SATA I but SATAII drives can be jumpered to default to the slower spec, so get the faster II version (again, this is for future compatability).

Other than that, just go by price per GB.
Newegg usually has some screamin deals and I've always been happy with the service.

Luke_marlow 40 gig may seem high, But not impossible.

While that may be a fine theory, I believe what clocker was talking about is
the amount your ISP allows per month/billing cycle.

Every ISP has limits and in most cases downloading 40 gigs in 1 month/billing cycle will
    violate your terms-of-service.

Thus, you won't be downloading 40 gigs of anything on a regular basis.

Note: the above is for the US only, I don't know jack about other countries' ISPs
and their policies. Unfortunately, the US suffers from a severe lack of bandwidth.

80gb is enough for storing porn on.

i would say slap in a 500GB drive for around £60/$120
then if u fill it slap in another.

what iv been doing but with 250gb drives as they were cheaper than 500GB but now 500GB dropped down a lot.
