I'd take a guess and say it was a cookie remaining with your browser. This works way better than recognizing users via IP, though I don't know if BitMe uses this (other trackers do).
Well, phantom, how should we help him? He broke the rules, got his traded account disabled and was later recognized for signing up again. Without knowing what the staff did to refuse him access, there's little to do. My first and only idea is using another browser or cleaning any possible cookies for this site but that may not help at all if his IP is static or if the staff chose to disable a certain IP range. If I were him, I'd just let this whole thing die down and try for an honest invite in a few weeks.
