The max for 56K is NOT 7KB/s. It's about 5,6 KB/s.

You can't simply divide 56 by 8. Some extra bits are used to be able to transfer 1 byte of data.

Complete novice here...I have Freeserve B/B through a 'phone line...My D/L speeds are a joke on the new Kazaa.. 0.50 > 6.00 or higher...my inconing port says 2228 (not 12 whatever), what can I do.....HHHEELLPPP!!!!!!

It did nothing for me. I have 56/k though. The most my connection has been steady at is about 6 kb/s. I have hit 25 kb/s but it is only for about a second and a half.

Great tip! One of my d/l's doubled in speed (2 user source only&#33. Wait, make that 2 of my downloads (out of 2).

If only we can tell why it works (or not) .. but then again, no more 'magic' that way!

I tried this and saw no significant difference in download speeds. I did, however, find that I could no longer use kazupernodes while on the new port. Kazupernodes worked again when I switched back to the old port.

I guess this is one of those tips that works under some conditions but not as well in others (like many tips, unfortunately.)

This worked when I first tried it but then later on it slowed down my speeds. I Quickly changed it back.

Incredible! lol. i went from 2kb to 40 kb by changing my port to its defualt! maybe thats the secret... use 32656 for about a day then change back
