Sorry to all!
I've been a terrible thread-host! I've been away for a day or so, so I haven't had time to reply..... :">

@ Riddler, MagicNakor & slammy_dunken: I had no Idea!!
I'm from NB myself, in case you couldn't tell from the colloquialisms.....
Also, methinks that you are all right about needing the NDP back, but we canadians are a very impatient people, at least in the political dept. We want everything they promised right here, right now! But, I guess we can't chnage that just yet........
Who knows, maybe the NDP will be back in time for the games!

@ balamm: Lmao!! I did not expect that to show up in the thread!!
But don't worry, looking at your shiny blue stars, I can rest assured that it's a not a hijacking..............Or IS it...?

Anywhom, thanks a bunch for the replies so far, and I hope to hear more from you all!

Way to go BC!!!! WOO HOO

Unfortunately Toronto has now withdrawn their bid for the 2012 Summer Olympics. T.O. was a virtual shoe-in. Oh well shite happens!

BC will definately benefit from this. New facilities. More low cost housing. Better access to Whistler. Tons of new jobs!

No, BC will not benefit from it. Vancouver may, but the rest of BC? Not a chance.

things are quiet until hitler decides he'd like to invade russia
so, he does
the russians are like "OMG WTF D00DZ, STOP TKING"
and the germans are still like "omg ph34r n00bz"
the russians fall back, all the way to moscow
and then they all begin h4xing, which brings on the russian winter
the germans are like "wtf, h4x"

More low cost housing.
Huh???

Explain how That would work please?

Costs pretty much quadrupeled after expo 86 and we were all told it was because we had had an artificially low land price compared to other parts of the world, Hong Kong for example.
And that this was just good world trade and all that, the global view.
Anyway you twist it, a lot of people preparing to buy lost big time, and those who had money and property to spare were laughing.

Lower cost housing ???

Not in this part of BC at least.
Every time we see one of these events in BC, gas prices rise, land prices rise, immigration rises, healthcare slides, low cost housing is bulldozed, and our lives just get more complicated trying to keep up with it all.
For them that have too much though, I imagine it's quite an attractive oportunity.
