What is so good about speedtest.net, all the givaways say "and i need a speed test from speedtest.net, not from your computer, It must be from speedtst.net".
There are may other better speedtests. As a matter of fact flash based ones (like speedtest.net) are the worst and least accurate especially if you have a fast connection ie. fiber.
Java based speedtests are much more accurate. Try this one: http://www.dslreports.com/speedtest?java=1
You can still get the nifty little image that says your DL/UL speed

I think one part of why speedtest.net is favored is the server-side evidence in form of the speedtest itself. You can't fake that one (except for using someone other's image). Furthermore, for most home connections there won't be a large difference between one test or the other.

I agree speedtest.net sucks. I have a fiber connection and the highest I can get is around 20mbps down and 3 mbps up on the test. I get 30 mbps down and 5 mbps up and almost all other speed tests. Also, the closest hub to me on speedtest.net is washington DC which is a 10mbit server and cannot handle any speeds over that. Overall, I think it is a shitty service, and I much prefer www.speakeasy.net/speedtest.
