hello!!
i encode my movies . Intel p4 1.7ghz 512ddr ram
average 700mb movie takes me 4hrs/bit less
now if i upgraded my ram to 1 gb will the amount of time become smaller if so how much by how long will it take me to encode my movies (700mb)
p.s i do not run n e other program while encoding therefore there r'nt many other factors only the firewall and antivirus run in the background

I have a 2.4 GHz P4 with 256 Ram and I encode REALLY fast, exactly an hour with a 700 meg divx. I don't think ram will really help but I know that if you get a faster CPU it will.
I used to have a P3 450 and it took about 18 hours for a 700 meg flick...SHEESH

ram may improve encoding time a little. but if you want to get alot faster encoding, a faster processor is the way to go
