I just installed winmx 2.6, im not going to bother with a 3.# because most private servers block this, and i think its great, in 3 days i got onto to 2 private servers thanx to MR-C and even started my own private server.

Just think of FTP but with multiple users to get files off and then you have winmx (the private version)

so just wondering what other ppl think that use the program, not the ones that installed it for 5 minutes and couldnt do anything because they couldnt get onto private servers, but the ones who use it a lot.

Winmx is ok. I installed the other day, and it worked fine. The only problem with it is queues, queues, queues, queues, queues and more queues. I NEVER have that problem with KaZaa Lite. If I find a file, I want to be able to download it NOW, and not have to sit around with my thumb up my ass for an hour waiting for it to start.

But I'm guessing that you've had lower quality music and/or corrupt large files e.g. CD Images, right? Sorry, but sometimes the investment in quality & reliability cost time.

I just want to take the time to thank those who brush off eMule, WinMX etc within five minutes of using it because it's too slow. The reason why it's too slow AFAIK is that it takes more time making sure the integrity is right (which means less need to d/l another copy of it), that and its popularity kinda slows some servers down. I won't shed a tear for your impatience, because fewer people on it means that bit of decrease in time for the rest of us

Please, guys, keep shunning these slow P2P software - Makes way to us who actually give a damn about quality or integrity

well k-lite is Crap with a capital C imo. its the worst p2p program around at the moment along with imesh but as these 2 use the same network then you can lump them together in 1 basket.

as for winmx being crap, i have just started my server 3 days ago and already have 13 people sharing 700gig of quality files, eg full albums, latest movies, latest games console and PC, and all of these are cdimages i dont think ive got 1 .exe apart from software Apps on it, and you cant say the same with kazaa as all you can get is .exe games and fake porn.

in total i have 4 servers i connect to, sharing 115,000 files and 12,903gig, not bad for 3 days work if you ask me, and because they are all private servers i know i can trust the ppl on them, so no fakes or viruses or no one snooping at what you have shared.

Fair enough at the moment i will still get the majority of my files from newsgroups, bittorrent and irc but hopefully if i can get enough users and enough servers to connect to, i wont have to use any of these programs as much as i do now, most of what i will ever need will be on winmx.

also i used to be of the oppinion that kazaa was the dogs bollocks a few months back, until i realised there are better programs out there for downloading and sharing your files.

imo the Fastrack network is old news and is fading fast, i dont think it will dissapear but i do think it is getting abandoned by a lot of ppl.

anyway thats just my views on the subject, but if you use ftp then you cant say winmx is crap because it works on the same principle, you connect to one user at a time for the download you want, but winmx has 100`s (if you are on the servers)((private ones that is dont even bother with the public ones)) to search through.

    stoi

Edit: as for it being leechers heaven, then you must be talking about the public winmx so 3.# not the private winmx 2.6, most private servers wont let you connect if you use a 3.# winmx version, so dont even bother with them, the only problem is if you install 2.6 and you dont know of any private servers then you will be sitting there for a long time just hoping to connect to something.

If you think Kazaa Lite is such a terrible P2P program, then uninstall it you ungrateful asshole. People like you piss me off. I have tried WinMX and it's just a bunch of leeching bitches.

Status - 8964 files, 78.6 GB, and climbing, thanks to Kazaa Lite, 46 downloads, 9 uploads.

i have uninstalled K++, if your happy with K++ then use the damn program but IMO it is crap, if all you want is speed then go for it but get a good virus program because your pc wont last long without one using kazaa.

and that is my point entirely, i cant be arsed to work it out but it must be an average of 50meg a file maybe 100meg if your lucky. so lets say you have 50 good files of about 1gig off kazaa so im talking good svcd/divx films, cdimages of games not shite .exes then that leave 8914 files, 28.6 gig so i wonder what the rest is, porn anyone as thats all kazaa is good for.

Oh and by the way if your sharing that much on kazaa, ppl will find it hard to find you in a search, its best to share 100 files of 80 gig rather than what you are sharing dickwad.

    stoi

PS. and if you read my post properly i said that on the private servers ppl cant leech, and kazaa lite is the worst program around for frigging leechers.

First off, public and private, if you know or don't know, blah blah...
WinMX = _INCOMPLETEMX_ in short SUCKS.

I will take KaZaa with some good Verifieds over that shit anyday, and many of you know how I feel about KaZaa, though with verifieds its still worth a fuck here and there. However I wouldn't screw WinMX if ya paid me, cheeze azz program with the alltime Q record and a bunch of "start me and I'll start you" auto responding bitches.

In addition if I want accurate and a little slow I'll take Shareaza via Mule anyday over that f**king useless program, and don't get me wrong I tried it for sometime and got sick of the users more than anything, not to mention never ending downloads that took weeks.

you know, reading this topic actually made me laugh.
it's funny to see some people being so 'patriotic' towards k-lite.
if some people think it's the best way forward to use a network which is virus-riddled, with leechers aplenty, fakes all over the place and riaa/anti-piracy agencies snooping around, then go ahead.
i on the other hand think it's a slightly better idea to use a network which only has people who are sharing a large amount of high quality files, no fakes or viruses. also, as stoi said, because the private servers are invitation only, the chances of getting an riaa/anti piracy agency employee on the network are so slim to be forgettable.

k-lite is probably gonna go under soon anyway, so if some people want to stick on the sinking ship, then that's all well and good. good luck to anyone who wants to keep using k-lite.

however, winmx is a very real (and imo superior) alternative p2p app than kazaa
