Hi all. I'm writing a paper for school on the history of file sharing and the current 'war' between the RIAA and allies vs. P2Pers. I'd love it if anyone could share some insight or experiences they've had with the RIAA/MPAA/etc. or some knowledge of the history of file sharing. Really appreciate it - whatever help you can/want to give, it would be great!

Well, you can thank Napster, broadband internet, and Thomson (company that invented MP3 technology).

I think there's a page on the main site about it...I know IC wrote something up like that a while back.

things are quiet until hitler decides he'd like to invade russia
    so, he does
the russians are like "OMG WTF D00DZ, STOP TKING"
and the germans are still like "omg ph34r n00bz"
the russians fall back, all the way to moscow
and then they all begin h4xing, which brings on the russian winter
the germans are like "wtf, h4x"

Oh okay. New about Napster (obviously), but I'll look into Thomson. Thanks a lot.
