1.)well u need @ least 400mhz,164mbs of memory i think about 1.2 gigs of HD space mab more and u might need 2 get some new drivers if XP cant supply them
2.)i got a nice copy of kazaa it lets me update and perform a clean install in dos(+this copy lets me boot in DOS some others u cant,so u have to do it in windows)

1. download xp,
2. burn it to a cd,
3. boot up 98 se comp
4. put cd in drive ,
5.restart windows,
6. install,

Keep your existing OS untill you see how XP goes. Use partition magic to make a new partition for XP and install it from windows 98 as a new/ advanced install to the second partition. This way, you have a dual boot system and time to try it out and test for bugs.
Choose the advanced options from the install window and "copy all" and " I want to choose where" .

Then you may be screwed. Hp uses proprietary drivers and hardware. It's a good bet if your system is more than a year and a half old that some things just won't work without the HP OS.
