i know a few guys who started their own tracker. they have around 1000 members so far. about 80 with servers and good speed.

still the numbers of leechers is far to low. the speed is only good on brand new torrents.

how many members would a tracker need to be reasonable seeded and leeched?

wow, that is a lot. i think their problem is, that they have mainly mainstream scene stuff. i told them they need a unique selling point. maybe some rarer staff. but this is hard for a 0day tracker.

they have to offer some unique stuff that people can't find in other places.
like rare/old/packs of movies/TV shows or some other fresh idea.
if they have the stuff people look for, good speeds and warm staff then the leechers will come.

ftn never had open sign ups. there 1st 2000 were all invites. then when dofr closed down alot of there users were invited which raised the user limit to 4000. by doing that they gave themself a great core userbase. i think it would be harder to pull that off today. i say if ur hosted in asia open sign ups wait till u hit 10,000 then prune all your dupes, cheaters, and disrespectfull user. come up with a fun way of getting invites (contests, upload amount, etc). before u know it youll have 8000 or so users.

you open registrations and let 100000 people sign up, after a year you keep the best 8000-15000
