Document recovery prog?

Whats the best document recovery prog? I accidently lost some docs when I extracted something with the same name as the document in question.So the new doc overwrote the old one! Is it possible to still get it back?

When you open the program , click on file and do you have the option " Recent Documents" or something to that effect??? If so try to click on an older version , see if that works...good luck
