Microsoft now have ultimate control over when users upgrade their operating systems.

Yes, I am talking about the Activation.

Call me Paranoid, but does with the feature to cut down on 'piracy' is this not more cut down on 'users using older operating systems'

When Microsoft stops support for XP, people who have to reinstall have to activate.

But they can't, because legally Microsoft no longer supports it...

they are forced to upgrade OS

Based on past experience, I'd say you won't have to worry about that for at least 7 or 8 years. 95 was just recently abandoned from windows update and now 98 is no longer officially supported but updates are still available so you have time to burn them to disk. With XP you'll just have to use a packet capture and registry monitor while registering or activating. Then you can re-add that info to the registry manually or spoof a transmission to your PC.
