It is not so much treating us as children but, by agreement with the Daily Mail, Civil Servants have to be uncomfortable and miserable for at least 80% of the working day. It was removing the cushion part of computer chairs that really pissed me off - I can live without Youtube.

See now I know what I get out of only being a semi-civil servant. I thought the lack of all the extra holiday days and employer pension contributions was a bad thing, but now I realise that farting around on Ebay for half my working day is my recompense .

What's a "semi-civil servant"

I work for the MRC....mostly funded by government but not completely. I get some extra holiday days like civil servants get, and a final salary pension scheme but my employer doesn't contribute to it. I'm in public sector perks limbo.
