Use DU-Meter (Get it from Kazaa). You may be surprised at your REAL d/u rate.

you might be far away from the broadcast tower. for me, i'm like a few miles away, and my regular comcast cable is at 400kb/s right now. B) it's awsome! u might just be far away from the broadcast station, well, that's wat they told me. well, try to delete some spyware and don't use too much hidden programs.
    hope it helps

    peace out

omg i cant beleive this is got this far without anyone saying, all dsl;s are not the same, maybe you only have a 512dsl, which would give a max of 60k, and the others have a fast cable connections, like 2mb or something,

    Same here!

    1. What DSL package did you buy? I bought the cheapest package which has a top speed of 98.0kb/s download and 15.0kb/s upload. I can upgrade to faster speeds for a higher price.

    2. When I had Win98, my DSL "acted up", on occasion it would slow down to nothing, until I had to get help from the DSL people to tweak the WinPoet software (a knwon problem with DSL and Win98).

    3. Windows XP needs no extra software, it "magically" connects you to your DSL provider, just enter your DSL password and username.

    4. KaZaA or K-Lite can be a joke when downloading a file. All of that expensive DSL will not let you download any faster from a 56ker.

Do a speed test at www.dslreports.com and post the URL of the result here.
Then i will be able to tell what speeds you could get if you listened to the people here. And you get a good uploader.

One more thing: DSL is much slower than cable, and much more expensive. just cancel ur dsl and get cable. unless u have a contract. stupid contracts. oh well, when it expires, get cable. B)

Actually some DSL packages can easily compete in the "T1" range. Not only that but many companies are now offering very inexpensive packages for DSL which average $30/ month. No hidden or bullshit "3-month-only" deals. It is expected that DSL will become the new "standard" for home connections within ten years.

Personally, I would like to hear more about this new type of internet connection that uses standard american electrical outlets to plugin and connect. Your internet connection is established by simply plugging your PC into the wall.

Edit: if you are having problems with your overall connection (kazaa aside), then you will need to call your provider. You may just have problems with your line and only a trained technician has the equipment to adjust your DSL flow/travel settings. Things that only they can do from their end.
