Some like to watch quality release instead of xvid shite.
For example:
Weeds S03E14 HR HDTV XviD-aAF
vs. Weeds S03E14 720p HDTV x264-SiTV
The first one is displayed at 624x352, while the x264 is shown at 1280x720.
Both claimed to be "HD", but when putting the first version on full screen mode, the quality is shit. It's like trying to enlarge an image to twice it's normal size. The effect of the image quality going to shit when enlarging is called "destructive scaling", and the same thing happens with videos.
I have a good 19" LCD and like to watch my shows in true HD on the entire screen, not a tiny window. Seeing as my resolution is set to 1280x1024, the show is displayed at its standard, true resolution while still in full screen mode.
The difference is obvious.
