i have spent months and mnths trying to make a vcd work in my dvd/vcd player
i convert a avi file to mpeg using tmpgenc and then burn it ont disk at 2x burn and it still dont work whats wrong with it.
is there certan make of cd-r or cd-rw i need to use or what
and what is a silver cd

Did you specify VCD when burning it? Or did you burn it as data?

i buurnt as vcd format and it still rejects it.

Maybe the guides and tutorials on this site may help.There is a lot than can go wrong with using tmpgenc.Have a look through and ensure you followed all the steps EXACTLY and you should be ok.
The way I normally make VCD's is to download the SVCD version of a movie and convert it using VCDgear.It depends on your connection speed as to wether this is feasible though I suppose.

you probably already did this......but make sure that your dvd player is capable of playing vcds. some older models of dvd players simply can't play vcds.

Use NERO 5.5.9 or 10 makes VCDs without any effort.
