Doesn't hurt to just try it out. You can always uninstall it. No it doesn't use up much resources, it's a small program.

eMule is very good, it does not use much CPU power but you have to be patient with it, eventually (if you customize settings such as max ammount of sources per file etc, you will get fast downloads after 30 minutes). http://forum.filenexus.com/ is the equivalent forum to Kazaa-Lite for eMule, it has codes which when you click on them it starts connecting.

When connecting to eMule, use the server "silent-bob" it's the best.

The connection of KL and eMule are slightly different. On Kazaa, you just connect to a supernode and search for the files you want. On eMule, you have a list of servers which you can connect to for files.

This site hosts a list of these servers and is known as an 'ED2K Server List'. There's several around but I like this. Just open eMule, follow that link, click one of the 'Add to eMule' buttons (I prefer Best Servers) and then switch back to eMule then press Connect

You can choose your own server, but eMule usually connects to good ones anyway. That, and I don't want to overload you - One step at a time

You find that you either prefer one over the other, or (the better option IMO) you find that each is the better one for seperate things.

Personally, I use Kazaa for smaller (less than 100MB) files while using eMule for larger files like CD images.

It's in effect a matter of taste

If you're going to get eMule, get eMule Plus at http://emuleplus.sourceforge.net.

And eMule is VERY slow. The max I can get on DSL is 13KB/s.
