Psx Mod Chip

If you put a mod chip in a psx wrong and it "frys" will you still see the white sony screen that always comes up? If put mine in and the screen still comes up but the cd drive doesn't seem to be working =/

I dont know much about it but it doesnt look good i dont fink its not supposed to do that!!!
