just wanted to add a little warning on the side..:
"if your system has become unstable or some functions are disabled like unable to edit the registry or you see a nice message about something illegal at windows log on.. then this mean TweakXP (pro) tried to fuck your system by changing some of your Windows settings.. to have a good winXP back just recover a Restore Point from the date/time you know your system was ok... or even easier.. Download/Install"
guess they just don't like hackers

If you want to speed up windows, use cacheman.

Best Tweaking tool for XP is TweakXP Pro. Cacheman is a good program but doesn't do much on XP because XP does a very good job handling its memory. TuneUp Utilities 2003 are also very good but you won't get any great performance boots.
Instead turn off File Indexing and other Services (Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Services) that you do not need. Defragmenting the NT File System won't do you much good either because NTFS is a journaling file system and will reduce fragmentation by itself.
