Yea I was unsure about the genre myself. But as "Control_you_3" has 2 threads on the topic, the other beeing "best hard rock artist" I thought I´d place Nick Drake here

Yea sorry I was probably too specific
it should really be general division between hard and soft rock( which counts folk as well because it falls under this category&#33

sorry about that...

>I think Guster is up for the challenge

Soft Rock emerged in the early '70s, partially as a reaction to the extreme sounds of the late '60s. Soft rock was commercial and inoffensive, taking the sound of singer/songwriter and pop/rock but smoothing out all the edges. Bands like Bread, the Carpenters, and Chicago relied on simple, melodic songs with big, lush productions. Throughout the '70s, soft rock dominated the airwaves and it eventually metamorphosed into the synthesized sounds of adult contemporary in the '80s.

With that in mind, my vote goes to:

Artist: Bread
Album Title: Best of Bread
Date of Release: Jun 19, 2001
