Thread: Divx Brightness ?

  1. #1
    hello all.
    i have this problem.

my divx movies is too dark, and i'd like to adjust the brightness.
    now:

WMP has brightness control, but then i can't use subtites.
BSPlayer however has subtitle support, but cant adjust brightness.
VirtualDUB has brightness filter, but processing is too long and it has some errors
    in the middle.

please help, what can i do?

bsplayer does have brightness control i think, if u go into options it'll be listed under the codec that the movie uses. (ie it has codec specific brightness levels, tho i'm not sure if all codecs can be adjusted.)

well i tried messing around with the options in BSPlayer,
adjusting the codecs settings and stuff,
but it didn't have any affect.

    when it worked,
i got this option in bsplayer, saying which "plugin" to used,
and it said ffdshow so i selected it no problem.

then (a few nminutes later), for some reason, i couldn't find it again.
i double checked to ensure i am not idiot,
    but maybe i am.

so, how do i use that filter?

Play the movie and right click on the movie screen, not the playlist, this will cause the big long menu to pop up. Go to properties. A small window should pop up on the left showing your installed codecs. Ffdshow should be listed there. Click it. Find "picture properties" on the list at the left. Check the box and slide the "luminance gain" to adjust the brightness. Click apply and close the window. You can also highlight "about" on the left side of the main ffdshow window and it will tell you what it is and what it does.

ok, as much as ffdshow was very nice and usefull (it has many filters),
    i found another solution.

it is even built in bsplayer.
    for divx movies:
properties - > divX decoder filter -> qualit settings tab:
you got some sliders there. the picture slider adjust the brightness.

thank you all for your help.
