  1. #1
I recently downloaded a file with the extension .sub - regardless what programs I tried I could not open it. Any ideas?

I think its subtitles. You add those to movies.

No it's not a subtitle. It's a CD image. You need a cue file that corresponds to the sub file and you burn it with nero using the burn image option in the nero file/ menu

Well, it is supposed to be a program, not a movie!

Is there a chance to extract the file if you don't have the cue file?

    Try CloneCD.

CloneCD uses .img and .sub files for a CD image.

So you might need to download the .img file too.

Look in my sig, I have created a complete walthrough for how to use these kinds of files. In order to burn it with the program that is intended to burn those you will need the .ccd, and the .img - depending on you may me able to get awaywithout the .img (very rarley though) usually these types of files come in a zipped file with all the needed parts.
