Thread: How To Update Banned Ip Ranges

  1. #1
    1. Go to http://www.simply-click.org/uploadertest/p...2_plaintext.asp
or http://methlab.tech.nu/ and then look for the "Plain Text Version" link.
EDIT: Since the Peer Guardian Database is troubled at the moment you can also go to...
    http://homepage.ntlworld.com/tim.leonard1/pg_plain.htm
    2. Copy the IP ranges
    3. Then go to C:\Program Files\Kazaa K++\BannedIPs
    4. Open the text file
    5. Select All, Ctrl+A
    6. Paste the new ones, Ctrl+V (thus deleating the old ones)

Keep in mind the PG Database is the best we have at the moment,
though you can add or delete ranges on your own.
You may also go to http://methlab.tech.nu/ and select their
    Feedback/Comments link if you wish.

Q: How do I know its working?
A: Its built in, though there is no log yet.

Q: How often should I update the IP's
A: Truth is, that is up to you, though once a week or so is ok.

Q: Does it block the IP's with other P2P programs.
A: No, it only loads with v2.40 and above.

If anyone wants to Pin this, feel free, and I will add to the Q and A when needed.

The original list in the BannedIPRanges was taken from the PG Database at the time of installation, if I am not mistaken. So you would be updating from the same site.

We all wish, though PG has yet do even do this, and again it only takes a couple of minutes to do it manually. Also I would imagine it would take a pretty large server to do that.

you can also just use the automatic updater made by some dude from the forum
    Download Link
Extract the files to the folder where the bad ip range text file is and run the .bat file. Norton detects it as a "malicious script" but don't worry i have checked the script and all it is trying to do is create a new text file.
P.S. should be integrated to the next klite installer along with the other tools.

Quick Question.... Do you add the new Ip ranges to the text file along with the old ones? Or delete the old ones altogether?
