SO I want to use a cretin picture as an avatar but its too big. every time I try to resize it I lose so much quality...
is there a software out the that can help me with this...
also I see lots of moving avatars, how is this done?

    Hi Gish !

I guess that you are using MS Paint for resizeing. You should try PSP or Photoshop. They have better image rendering engine but think that every large image will losse much when it is smaller. Of course you can try this nice app :

    Avatar Sizer 1.0.0.9

For animated avatars you can use large collections of programs. Most popular is this one

Ulead GIF Animator 5.0 makes it easy to create fast-loading, high-impact Web animations. Version 5.0 cuts production time in half with simple drag-and-drop object-based editing, round-trip auto-updating from external image editors, and tweening features. Advanced optimization delivers the smallest possible file sizes, while output to video, EXE, and Flash formats makes it one of the most versatile animation tools available.

    Only movement is absolutely.
