i'm a member of a tracker that has a massive overseeding problem.

they recently decided to hide the peerlists from users.

will hidden peer lists decrease or increase leeching?

the reason for getting rid of this feature was: reduce tracker load.

do hidden peer lists reduce tracker load?

    please give reasons.

Hiding peer list doesnt have anything with the tracker load as when u open a torrent in utorrent, u can always see the peer list there itself, so i find no use for hiding peer list on site, though it can be very frustrating at times as we cannot view the peer download progress at the time of downloading the torrent ,to decide whether or not to leech the torrent unless we open the torrent in utorrent

This will reduce load on the tracker! People will no longer be able to click on, thus less load on the server. How much? I dunno really...

I think everyone should be allowed to see the peerlist. For example if there's one seeder on torrent, and you really need to download fast something, then you can pm seeder and ask if he could stop other torrents and seed this one. If he is nice, and has access to client. He probably will do what you're asking for.

Well between the client and peerlist on the tracker you can narrow it down and find out people IP's..Pisexy did it awhile ago for security reasons.......

its easier for mod to catch cheaters if they cant adjust their upload speeds to upload of honest users. They simply dont know how much can they spoof and with what speed.
